Club News:
Board Meeting was held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
Phyllis Crump was removed from Honorary status and Joe & Marilyn Kocer were added to Honorary status.
Al Johnsrud received over 100 books from SMIF. The books will be sorted on October 14, 2026 starting at 2:00 PM prior to our regular meeting at the VFW meeting room.
Peanut Days Fund Raiser for our club was September 11 & 12 from 9AM to 5PM this year. The Hy-Vee North 37th Street, Hy-Vee Barlow Plaza, and Hy-Vee South sites were supported. The community supported us, as always, to help us support our non profit organizations.
Jeanne Logelin and Jeannine Hadley are joining the Program Coordinator team. Thanks for volunteering.
The 2026 Golden K Kiwanis Christmas Party has been scheduled for Wednesday December 09, 2026 to be held at our VFW meeting site. The entertainment this year will be by “Raven Fire”. Further details will be coming.

2026 Peanut Award
Sherry Huyber and Abigail Hofer are this year’s Golden K “Peanut Award“ winners. Their Hy-Vee Crossroads shift total was $425.84 which led all shifts at our three stores during this year’s “Peanut Days” event. Their total was also the second highest shift total ever. Way to go Sherry and Abigail and congratulations !
Dan McCoy Star Award
At the Minnesota Dakotas District Convention in August, Golden K’s own Dan McCoy was recognized as this year’s Division 7 Star Award winner. Janet Cederholm, our Division 7 Lieutenant Governor, presented Dan with his award at a recent meeting. Star Awards recognize Kiwanians in their district who serve their clubs and their communities with unwavering commitment but who are not generally recognized for their long standing record of service. As we all know Dan and what he has meant to Golden K, that recognition is undoubtedly very much deserved. Congratulations Dan !
Remembering John Eppley and Jim Ertelt
In September, Golden K lost two long time members and special friends. John was a Past President of Golden K and also served 2 terms on our Board of Directors. Jim served multiple terms on our Board. Both were active and valued members for many years. Because of declining health, both had transitioned to Honorary membership in the past few years. They will certainly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jody and Nicol and their families.
Remember, we are Kiwanis- changing the world one child and one community at a time!
